Pineapple
The Colonial sign for ‘hospitality’, the ‘Pineapple’ makes a welcome statement whether in the kitchen or greeting guests in the front hall. Subtle colorations along the leaves enhance the greenery at the top. This was a more complicated subject to do than I realized! I started with one pineapple, and went through six of them over time as I realized that there were spirals coming down from the top that created diamonds, and each diamond shape along the spirals had little sheaves in the middle of them. This is the fun of botanical art – observing more than what you usually see as you study and draw.
